Why did Baccani Prams Closedown?

“The downfall of Baccani Prams was a combination of external pressures and internal struggles. Economic crises, changing markets, along with ill-timed business expansions of Baccani into more regions, all played a role in its fall. The economic crises were the biggest factor of all. And not just for Baccani, but all businesses across the board. The atmosphere around the market really tightened the space we had to operate in terms if operations, logistics etc, and made things almost impossible to go on. We had just launched the Lusso 2 pram which was a crowd favourite at the time, but we couldn’t get it to as many customers as we liked. The few parents who bought the pram were beyond happy with their prams. But as disposable incomes reduced, the company was unable to supply to it’s demand. We got heaps of inquiries until the very end but unfortunately, we couldn’t fulfil them all. The new shipments were delayed from the ports, and it was just an unfortunate spiral of things that came all together. It’s a sad reality because we know the customers love our prams”.

What happened to the management?

“A lot of internal cracks began to form within the organization, as the challenges kept coming. It felt like a real test in tough times. To add to the fire, many points in our supply chain from manufacturing to delivery to the customer snapped, making it difficult to manage the demand. We completely understand the customers POV and we tried our best to cater to the mass while keeping good time. But there’s only so much we can control from our end. Shipping delays and dwindling resources put all of the employees in a difficult situation leaving us without answers to our loyal customers. With each misstep, Baccani’s reputation suffered, and most importantly our customers were effected”.

Where do you think Baccani is headed?

“Baccani is closed for new sales, but remains open to old customers for warranties. The decision to dissolve Baccani Prams was a difficult but necessary one. The damage was done and the wounds were too deep”.

What happens to the existing Baccani Customers?

“The old customers of Baccani prams may still need to contact Baccani for warranty or part replacements. As the company has closed down, there’s a limited supply of parts and limited resources for us to allocate to these matters. But we still have one active channel for customers to contact us.

For all customers with warranty claims, we advice to contact the company via [email protected] with your warranty details. Depending on the remaining stocks, the company will try their best to help. In some cases the comapny may be out of parts and accessories, and customers may experience excessive delays for these orders as they need to be imported individually”.

A lot of the parents still stand with Baccani simply for the excellent product range. Do you have any plan to re-start Baccani?

“Unfortunately, we cannot reboot Baccani to revive the product range. But another company has bought exclusive rights to some of the models in our range. Parents will still be able to buy selected products from them and just like normal, they have agreed to handle all new purchase dispatches and warranties under them. It is the reliable products and the good customer experiences that have brought us along the way, and it is good to know that they don’t go away although the company has closed down”.

What about Baccani’s operations in NZ?

After the company closed down, they transferred full rights for a few products to Baccani NZ. They are operational and can be accessed through their website or contacted via [email protected].

Our conclusion

The demise of Baccani Prams is as an unfortunate tale in the landscape of business. Once a loved name in the Australian baby product industry, Baccani Prams succumbed to a perfect storm of economic downturns, internal management struggles, and supply chain disruptions. Despite their best efforts, the company found itself unable to defeat the challenges, ultimately leading to a closedown.

Baccani Prams struggles to meet demands, manage customers, and closes down. What about their services to existing customers?

The closure of Baccani Prams not only marks the end of an era but also leaves behind a void for its loyal customer base. While the brand itself may not be resurrected, there is a glimmer of hope as some of Baccani’s models may have found a new home under the management of Skippy Prams who have bought exclusive rights to some models of their prams, and will be handling all new customers of the much loved prams.
